Humanity seems to have always had a sense of wonder about the world it lives in. From the dawn of humankind, people must have sat around fires and stared up at the heavens and wondered, pondered and thought about how nice the sky looked at night.

Our earliest records show humanity's imagination, its creativity, and its interwoven relationship with the world.

We have always wondered about our place in the world, our life cycle, our birth, death, and our day to day experiences. We have created gods, myths, legends, stories and tales to help us understand and explain to our children the complexities of life here on Earth.

At some point in the past some of us developed the idea that we are not like other inhabitants of Earth but somehow different, capable of abstract thought, perception of time and awareness of past, present and future. Some perceived that we are in some way separate from the animal kingdom and therefore have power over it.

Prior to the arrival and development of our modern religious and philosophical systems, humankind had many gods and goddesses each closely linked to his understanding of the natural world. Some tribal peoples survive today that still hold to these beliefs, offering us insight into what life might be like if we consider all life, including our planet, as sacred.

In recent times some of humankind have divorced themselves from the reality of their dependence on the Earth and adopted a lifestyle where by the Earth gives up its resources to enhance the expansion of humanity across the globe. We no longer see ourselves as part of this world but rulers of it; we have become separated, isolated and imprisoned by the god like abilities of our own minds.
